THERAPY (Reconstructed 001)

I’m excited to offer a Pay What You Like / Free Download of Therapy (Reconstructed 001)—a fully realized long-form version of a track that first debuted during my Breakfast of Champions set in San Francisco on 01/01/2024.

The track is part of my ongoing Reconstructed series, where I take familiar tracks and reshape them into something new, blending elements from my live/DJ hybrid sets under the Simon Shackleton name. Therapy is originally by Moderat, but this re-imagined version has evolved into an immersive musical journey that goes beyond the source material.

For each Reconstructed track, I meticulously deconstruct elements from my vast music library—often using Ai to extract layers from the original recordings—and then reassemble everything in a fresh, emotionally compelling way. The end result is music that’s at once recognizable yet transformed, crafted to evoke a deep response from the listener.

Using Ableton Live, I control up to 16 channels of audio simultaneously, layering textures, rhythms, and live keyboard overdubs to deliver a sonic experience that feels alive and in the moment. It’s a process that pushes the boundaries of what a hybrid set can offer—blurring the lines between DJ, live performer, and composer.
