A WORLD PREMIERE!
On February 8th, The Shadowmaker Live had its world premiere at MCA Denver’s Holiday Theater, marking the first full realization of a project that has been years in the making. It was a night that will stay with me for a long time—both personally and professionally—an evening where music, film, and storytelling came together in a way that felt deeply resonant and, at times, profoundly moving.
The response from the audience was incredible. The show was well supported here in Denver, with friends and fans traveling from out of state to be part of it, which meant the world to me. The atmosphere in the room was one of deep engagement—people laughed, cried, and, most importantly, reflected. The conversations I had afterward, and the messages I received, confirmed that The Shadowmaker wasn’t just a performance; it was a catalyst for people to examine their own emotional journeys, to consider the events that have shaped them, and to connect with those around them in a meaningful way.
The balance between the documentary and live performance felt exactly as I’d hoped—two halves of the same whole, each enriching the other. The documentary, which was painstakingly crafted alongside Chele Gutek, was met with genuine warmth, humor, and emotion. The live performance itself, alongside Jez Noble on drums, was the culmination of an intense week of rehearsals, pushing us both to bring something raw, intimate, and powerful to the stage.
One unexpected highlight of the night was the Q&A session that followed the performance. I hadn’t given much thought to how I’d feel standing in front of an audience, fielding questions about something so personal—but in the moment, it felt natural. The questions were thoughtful, articulate, and showed just how deeply people had connected with the show. That interaction—being able to share and listen—felt like an extension of the performance itself, reinforcing the idea that The Shadowmaker is not just about my own story, but about the shared human experience.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without an immense amount of hard work. I owe so much to Chele, whose dedication to the storytelling and visual elements of the show was beyond extraordinary, and to Jez, who brought such an incredible energy to the live performance. Their contributions made this show what it was, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
This premiere was just the beginning. The Shadowmaker Live will continue to evolve, and I’m already excited for what comes next. If you were there, thank you for being part of something so special. If you weren’t, I hope to bring this show to more cities soon.
For now, I’m taking a moment to breathe it all in—to appreciate what we’ve built, and to look forward to what’s ahead.
